Our Philanthropic Efforts For Those Who Need It Most
Baxco Pharmaceutical understands that with prosperity comes responsibility and in these tough times that responsibility is to those who are in dire need of some assistance. The discussion of charity came easy for Dennis Wong, CEO of Baxco Pharmaceutical, as he reflected on how much his company has grown in the past years. "We started out just the accountant and myself," said Dennis, "I would take shipments to the airport and do whatever was needed to get that shipment out."He continued, "I understand how lucky we have been and I have always given back to the community, now is the time to step up out efforts." |

His "mom and pops" shop has now grown into a major player in the pharmaceutical manufacturing world and there seems to be no ceiling on the potential growth. During the last staff meeting, Dennis suggested that our philanthropic efforts as a company should now increase.
So it was decided during that meeting that a series of donations and efforts be made to give back to the various communities and to Vietnam. The first in the series of donations went to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles in the form of LA Sparks season tickets. The two tickets are to be given to children with Cystic Fibrosis, which is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children.
Wend Kellaris, Manager of Volunteer Resources said of the donation, "These patients spend most of their lives in the Hospital, separated from friends and family, and live very isolated lives. Because of very strict infection control procedures that must be used in their day-to-day lives, getting out to a basketball game is a real joy and treat for this very special group of people."
The companies philanthropic efforts will continue with donations to victims of rape and spousal abuse, and the creation of a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing fresh water to Vietnam villages that do not have access to clean water. Fresh Water for Life, tentatively named, will begin with supplying schools with fresh bottles of water and working toward improving water delivery systems to impoverished areas of the country. |
